A trip to Rabat for an environment meeting and to meet new and old Peace Corps friends was like a little reunion. A few of us went to Oualidia afterwards, a coastal town close to Essouira to check out a new area of Morocco. After a very long hot bus ride, we finally made it and stayed in a quaint apartment in town. It was pleasant and turns out that the area had the best and cheapest used clothes and shoes that I've seen in all of Morocco, about 10 cents a piece. Good thing I didn't have a lot of backpack space as I already purchased a few things along the way like tin lamps, a carpet and boots. I did purchase a few items for friends and family back in my village. Aside from the anti-American protests happening in Morocco after September 11, I am managing to keep a low profile and stay away from the news, big cities and continue to be supported by my community. School in Morocco starts next week which I am anticipating it's arrival.
